Milan and Kay Yerkovich's model of five core styles shaped by childhood family dynamics.

Milan and Kay Yerkovich's model of five core styles shaped by childhood family dynamics. Less well-known than attachment theory but complementary to it.

- **Avoider** — Learned to be self-sufficient; uncomfortable with emotional needs. - **Pleaser** — Learned to make others happy to avoid conflict; suppresses own needs. - **Vacillator** — Seeks ideal connection; frustrated when reality doesn't match the ideal; unpredictable. - **Controller** — Manages anxiety through control; can be demanding or domineering. - **Victim** — Conditioned to accept mistreatment; may replay painful dynamics.

The sixth style — the **Secure Connector** — is the goal.
