Secure Functioning

Stan Tatkin's term. A relationship orientation where both partners explicitly prioritize the relationship and operate as a genuine two-person team. Characteristics: full transparency, quick repair, no triangulation (bringing third parties into conflicts between partners), having each other's back in public, and mutual protection of the partner's wellbeing. Less about feelings and more about operating agreements.
