The Spark Myth

**Reality: Biologically impossible to sustain.** The intensity of early attraction (often limerence) is driven by neurochemistry, particularly dopamine and norepinephrine. The brain literally cannot maintain that state indefinitely. It fades in every relationship, typically within 6 months to 3 years. This is not failure. Long-term love is different — deeper, quieter, more intentional — but not lesser. Expecting permanent butterflies leads people to leave good relationships or chase limerence indefinitely.
